Little Red River House

Little Red River House

We recently began design on a new residential project in Central Arkansas.  The house will sit on the bank of the Little Red River, overlooking a rarely traveled section of the river.  The site presents dramatic opportunities for progression both from the road as well as from the river.  From the road, a heavily wooded site gradually opens up to a clearing where you can catch glimpses of the flowing water below through the trees and brush along the river’s bank.   The clearing will serve as the location for the house, minimizing removal of existing trees, and becoming the transition from the heavily wooded site to the river below.  From the clearing, you can proceed down a ledge stone path and stair, to the river’s edge where a future dock will be constructed.

From the river’s edge, looking back up to where the house will sit, the ledge stone stair and sloping river bank will serve as the foundation for the house.  The preliminary design features cantilevered balconies, reaching out toward the river to provide dramatic views to the natural beauty of the river flowing below.  Check back over the coming months for updates as we proceed with design of this exciting project.
